I cant cope with these retainers anymore. What will happen if I leave them out?!

Question: I cant cope with these retainers anymore!. What will happen if I leave them out!?
Ok, I moaned about them before
And Im moaning again!.

I had my braces out thursday and retainers top and bottom
They aren't too bad at night but I cant cope in the day!.
I cant talk because of the lisp
I cant eat because of the pain
The bottom one is rubbing so much - it doesnt even click in place properly so it keeps popping out inside my mouth
It feels like Im going to choke all the time
Its wrecking my self confidence!.

i have had retainers before but they weren't this bad
I have had ibruprofen and keep applying bonjella but its not helping!.
Im going back to the dentist asap but tomorrow I have 2 important exams!. I know this will impact my performace!.

basically - do you think i can just use them at night till i can see my orthodontist!.!?!?
I dont want to wreck the 2 years of treatment but I am so miserable because of them!.

Any ideas to help the pain would also be good thanks

Thank you xWww@Answer-Health@Com

You can't avoid getting a lisp when you get retainers!. You'll learn to talk around them without a lisp!.

However since they don't fit, they should be looked at by your ortho!. If your bottom one is causing more problems, leave it out only when you are studying and when you are taking your exams so it doesn't distract you; that probably won't cause problems since you're going back tomorrow!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Unless you want your teeth to go back the way they were before the treatment you will just have to persevere!. I know it's annoying having a lisp!. If it's painful you could take them out for eating and then put them straight back in afterwards!. If they are affecting your performance in an exam I suppose it would be best to leave them out while you are doing your exam, so you can concentrate, but put them straight back in afterwards!. You will be glad you persevered!Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you stop wearing your retainers, you can potentially screw up what the braces did!. Your parents will be mad at you for wasting their money, and your ortho will be mad at you for wasting their time, unless he's getting paid to give you braces again!.

Ask your dentist or ortho what kinds of alternative retainers are available and see if they can adjust your current retainers so they are more comfortable!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

if you were to not wear them in the day then there would be a good chance of your teeth going back to the way they used to be before the braces!.you can take them out for the exams and could do for like an hour each day but do not risk too much more!. surely you take them out when you eat!? with time they'll get looser and be more comfortable, i know from experience!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Two or three days won't hurt things much!.

Try wearing them at night or just not at all for the exams!.

The lisp is pretty normal!. You will adjust!. Everyone does!. The other stuff is not!. Your retainer needs adjustment!.

If it is rubbing on your cheek, sometimes soft wax can cover it until you see the dentist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It shouldn't hurt to leave them out during the day for a short time until you see your orthodontist!. They certainly need to be adjusted as soon as possible! Retainers aren't supposed to make your life miserable, and you should get over the lisp fairly quickly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

With my retainers, I would only have them in at night, and on weekends if I wasn't going to hang out with anyone!.
That way it isn't messing up your teeth, and you can go to school or whatever without a lisp!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

My cousin had the same problem and he thought that if he kept them on at night and when he would go to the dentist they would be fine!.!.

But instead his teeth got back to the way they were so I suggest that you keep them on!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Do what your orthodontist said!. You will regret not listening to them later!. Trust me!.

No pain no gain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i stopped wearing mine and my teeth are fine!. what do they expect, u to wear them your whole life!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
