Abscessed tooth and anesthesia...?!

Question: Abscessed tooth and anesthesia!.!.!.!?
I went to the dentist a few days ago and found out I have an abscessed tooth!. Before I went to the dentist there was no swelling in my face, but not long after I left my face began to swell!. That night I started to take the penecillin I was percribed but the next day the left side of my face had swollen up a LOT from my jaw to right below my eye!.
I called the doctor and he perscribed me another antibiotic (Ciprofloxacin 500mg)!. I started taking it yesterday and my face is not getting any better!.
I was originally supposed to get the tooth removed next thursday (a week after my initial visit to the dentist) but after hearing about my face he changed the day to Monday!.

Now here is my question, I've heard a lot about anesthesia not working with an infection, so since my face is still continuing to swell, does this mean I wont be numb during the extraction!?
And is it even normal for my face to still be swelling!?

Only SERIOUS answers please!
I am miserable right now!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

This is not unusual!
Sometimes when there is so much infection the tooth is called a "hot tooth" where there isn't enough room around the abscess to safely put the required amount of anaesthesia in!.
There are ways around it and your dentist will know what to do!.!.!.but if he/she doesn't - it's not their fault there is so much infection!.
You should be fine, the reason your face still swelled after the penicillin could be because the bacteria may be resistant to penicillin so hopefully the ciproflaxacin (which kills lots more types of bacteria) should work to bring it down a little by tomorrow!. If it's not possible to anaesthetise you in the practice it may be necessary to do an urgent referral to a hospital and have general anaesthesia where you'll have some sleepy time, won't feel a thing, won't remember a thing - wonderful!

I hope this is helpful in any way, at least reassurance that it's very very treatable, and i'm ever so sorry you have to go through this - it's not nice!.
Good luck on monday!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
