Hello, I'm sorry I don't have a picture, but spacers are like little rubber bands about a half centimeter in diameter that are placed in between your molars (one in each quadrant of your mouth, so most likely you will have one each in the upper right, upper left, lower right, lower left)!. They are left in for about a week prior to having braces put on so when they put the bands around your molars in back next week, there will be enough space to fit them around the teeth!.
Spacers are placed like floss, and don't hurt when they are placed!. You may feel a little pressure between your teeth after they are placed, but you'll be feeling that a lot after you get braces!.
When the bands are placed next week, that shouldn't hurt either, and the spacers will make that process much easier!.
