Question: After having a tooth removed, how long does the pain last after the anesthetic wears off!?
Answers:
Who ever said dry socket leaves you with a 'dull ache' obviously has never had one!. The pain is akin to being repeatedly hit in the jaw with a sledgehammer, due to the jaw bone being exposed, and food etc irritating the nerves!.

You should not be in much pain after an extraction if there is no infection!. Sometimes it can be a bit achey for a day or two after all the injections and pulling, but any more pain than a scale of 2 is not normal!. Flagyl or Amoxcillin will head off an infection!. If there is a whitish/yellowish film like a cobweb over the hole, you can be pretty sure it is infected - go back to the dentist!. Don't use a straw, rinse with salt water and let the water dribble out of your mouth - don't 'suck' it together in your mouth!. This causes a vacuum that dislodges the clot!.

For pain, you can safely take two 500mg paracetamol and one 400mg ibuprogen together, four times a day!. But if you need this amount of pain relief, there is something wrong!. Phone your dentist!.

PS!.!.!.if you are a smoker, and had a cig after the extraction!.!.!.it will deffo be infected!. Believe me!.!.!.I know!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Pain should go away after about 3 days but the area will be tender for about a week!. Don't drink from a straw as the suction will keep pulling out the blood clots and you have to re-start the healing process all over!.

Sometimes the gums don't close right away, this is known as "dry sockets", it leaves you will a dull ache and can last a week or more!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i had 2 teeth removed from the top half of my mouth, and i didnt feel a thing during the 'procedure' exceptfor the tiny sting from the needle (i had to have four ingections)
when they take the tooth out they push up reaaallly hard so u will feel pressure from that but ur really numbed so it doesnt hurt, then they pull annd you hear the ripping of the tooth as they pull it(its gross but u cant feel it)
and then after you have to bight realllllly hard on a gauze untill the bleeding stops (it took me 7 or more hours for it to stop)

i didnt get any pains after the numbing wared off!.
