I am getting my my #2 pulled on Tuesday!. I ave crazy anxiety and always have my mom sit in the room with me!. This time Im going to an Oral Surgen and not my normal Doctor!. Im extermely scared about getting my tooth pulled!. Will the surgen let me have someone sit in the room with me!? (It seems to help my nerves) How long will it take to get the tooth out!? Will I feel it!? Will it hurts!? Will they give me anything to take after the tooth is out to reduce pain!? What should I be looking forward to!? Is there any good in having a tooth pulled!?

I hear ya on the anxiety - I was fine until I started getting the freezing!. If I had a choice I would have backed out then and there! You will not feel the freezing or the tooth actually being pulled!. Your cheek will be frozen and once it is, your surgeon will be using a tool in which if it is not completely frozen, you will feel a pinch!. If you feel this, SPEAK UP (or make a face lol) and they will put more freezing on it!. When you do not feel any pinching, it will be time to pull the teeth!. You will feel only pressure and it will feel incredibly weird!. I actually didn't mind it once I got used to it but that's all you feel!. It will only take maybe about a minute for the surgeon to actually pull the tooth!. He/she will use a twisting motion and you won't even know it's out until you see him/her reach over to put the tooth into a holder of some sort (don't worry you won't see the tooth)!. You will then be given gauze and told to bite down onto it for a couple minutes - once again, you won't feel anything!.

When my dentist did the freezing, I became ssoo nervous about the whole thing - especially since he had to use enough freezing to freeze about 10 teeth on a "normal" person, I began to think "omg what if the original freezing starts to wear off and then I can feel it!?" but once he got down to it, it was quite alright!.

Before you leave, you will be given a packet of gauze and instructions on what not to eat/drink/do for the next 24 hrs!. You will either be given some painkillers (or a prescription for some) or told to use advil or some sort of pain reliever that you normally would use for things like a headache!.

Honestly, take a deep breath every 5 minutes or so!. You will do fine and feel like a retard after (because of the freezing)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hey there!. an oral surgeon is a special type of dentist trained in removing teeth that are more complicated and in doing jaw surgery and such!. You can ask your dentist and the oral surgeon any questions you have!.
Here is how it usually works: you follow the directions about if you should eat or not the day of the surgery!. It's probably ok to have your mom in the room!. They will give you a painkiller during, so you may feel pressure but not pain!. Afterwards, you will get directions about how to care for your mouth!. It might hurt a bit and you may be kinda tired!. Rest for a few days and eat soft foods and follow the directions for keeping your mouth clean by brushing the teeth and stuff!.
Overall, it's not too bad!. Ask the oral surgeon about what medicine to take for pain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

hey!!!!your being scared is absolutely normal!. dont worry about that!.
infact you are lucky that an expert is taking your tooth out and not any other person!. he knows the best ways to take out tooth without pain!.
your mom will sit beside you!.!. o!.k!.!.relax!.
the dentist will numb the tooth before taking it out!.!. so dont be afraid of pain!.!.!.!. you will just feel slight heaviness while the procedure!.
you have a duty there!.!.!.!. be honest in telling the dentist what you feel!.!.!.!.how much numbness is there and like that!.
time taken during procedure is variable!. it can complete in less than 10 min also!.
you will be given good painkillers so that you dont feel any pain after the procedure!.
follow religiously whatever instructions your dentist gives you!.
the main being about having LOTS OF ICE CREAMS!!!!!
JUST CHILL OUT !!!!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I cannot speak for all dentists, but some do not like to let anyone else in the room because it actually creates more stress for the patient!. But call and ask your oral surgeon!. A tooth extraction usually only takes about 20 min!. That is after you are numbed!. You will feel pressure only, not pain!. If you feel pain let the dentist know and he/she will numb you more!. You can ask for a pain med to be prescribed after the surgery!.
You didnt specify if the tooth is infected, or just a routine wisdom extraction!. If it is infected, it is better for your health to not have to fight that infection!. And if it is not hurting you, it is good to remove the wisdom tooth now before problems arise later, like shifting teeth or eventual decay (because it is nearly impossible to properly clean wisdom teeth at home!.) You will be just fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
