If you get really nervous going to the dentist and music helps you relax, then I don't think it's bad manners as such!. As long as you explain the situation, but it will make communication difficult, even with one earphone in!.

I think in general it is rude to use you're earphones, unless you have a good reason to!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No - its not bad manners: its not like you can really respond to the orthodontist if he asks you a question when your mouth is wide open and all you can do is make funny noises!. I'm sure the orthodontist will understand, but if it makes you fell politer, perhaps one earphone will do!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Unless your dentist is particularly talkative, I would think he or she would be relieved not to feel obliged to make small talk with you!. I'm all for listening to your iPod while undergoing the procedure!. But, then, I'm not a dentist!. So, I may be speaking out of place here!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yeah a tough one!. Technically it is bad manners as the dentist probably wants to chit chat and you'll need to be given instructions and stuff so probably best you dont use an ipod!. But hey you can always ask!Www@Answer-Health@Com

No just tell them that it is to distract yourself from whats going on!. Have never really though about it before!. It's not like it's easy to have a conversation while someone has their hands in your mouth!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well its not like you can reply to what there saying anyhow!.!.!. i hate talking to the dentist or optition or hairdresser, i just want to be left in my non thinking quiet state! lolWww@Answer-Health@Com

It's still bad manners even if you have one earphone in, they look like you disrespect the person you're talking to!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm no expert on manners, but I would suggest asking the Dr!. I mean it's not like you guys can talk and its not a social visit!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

explain to him beforehand -Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is fine!. I did!. The sound of the tools makes me pass out!. :-vWww@Answer-Health@Com
