Just got a tooth pulled and I'm a smoker?!

Question: Just got a tooth pulled and I'm a smoker!?
Okay so I got a back tooth pulled today and the nurse told me not to smoke for 24 hours but the instruction sheet they gave me says 6 to 8 hours!.!. I was trying to figure out if it would be okay to keep the gauze packed in the hole and take light hits of the cig!. I can't wait 8 freakin hours!Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should try and wait as long as you can!. Smoking can decrease your body's ability to heal - not to mention the sucking on the cig can break the clot!. Usually they tell you to stop smoking for like 2 weeks before any surgery, especially oral surgery!.

If you want to blow your clot, smoke until you can't smoke anymore!.!.!. but honestly, wait it out as long as you can!. BLowing the clot can attribute to additional bleeding and or dry socket, both of which are painful!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Following a tooth extraction, I am afraid to tell you that you should refrain from smoking for 24 hours!!!! (and I am a smoker) The problem is, if you smoke it can cause an infection called a "dry socket" this is most likely to happen if it is a lower tooth that has been extracted!. I KNOW IT IS A NIGHTMARE!!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

if you CAN, wait 24+hours!.

if you CANNOT, if you got a bottom tooth pulled, u can cover your teeth with foil, and then smoke!. haha!.

you shouldn't smoke with gauze in your mouth cuz no matter how lightly you smoke, the smoke/smell can get caught in the gauze and irritate your mouth!.

i just got my teeth pulled on friday, and i'm a smoker and i haven't smoked since!. it's so harddddd but i'm VERY scared of getting dry socket!. it's your teeth and it's your choice!. but seriously, wait 24+ hours if you can, and after THAT i recommend the foil methodWww@Answer-Health@Com

absolutely not!! just plain and simple!. I guess it's easier for me to say that because I am not a smoker, but that was one of the first questions I was asked today is if I smoked!. The real let down was drinking lol but good drugs do just the same to make the pain go away!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't do it!. The last thing in the world you want to do is end up pulling to hard and the blood clot in the hole where to tooth was extracted come out!. Then you will have serious problems like dry socket which is very, very painful!. It brought my 6 ft 220lb hubby to his knees!.

You can wait 8 hours!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you all are addicts !.!.maybe if you try the 6 -8 hrs maybe you could do it everyday until it heals and who knows by then your body will be use to it and you could be on your way to quiting soon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Absolutely not!. Imagine u r pouring fuel to a wound!! A cigarette is contraindicated coz it provokes heat in the area and the action of inhaling it self makes negative pressure which affects the fresh clot!. Be patient, dear!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

damn addict what! i feel ya though cuz i did the same damn thing with my wisdom teeth!. i'm not condoning it but you do what you think is right!. you do risk a nasty infection though!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Go for it!. Just don't suck too hard and like you said, keep the gauze over it!.

Not everyone gets dry socket!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

8 hours!? I was told 48 for my wisdom teeth!. I think I made it to 44!. If I can go 44, you can go 8!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

**** it just light up a stogie and smoke it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
