Solutions for a pregnant woman with an impacted wisdom tooth.....?!

Question: Solutions for a pregnant woman with an impacted wisdom tooth!.!.!.!.!.!?
I am in the miltary and my wisdom teeth first came in last July!. Due to unit training, I was told I would have to wait to get dental care!. When training was over, I went to the dentist but the surgeon was so booked that I wasn't able to get to the clinic for my consult until January!. When I finally was about to get my wisdom teeth removed in March, I was told to take a mandatory pregnancy test(apparently women who are pregnant cannot have dental work done)!. I took the test, and it was positive!. A few days ago, I started getting severe sharp pains on the side of my jaw where the tooth came in!. What can I do for the pain!? I cant have my teeth removed right!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

The American Pregnancy Assoc says that preventative dental work should be done to avoid potential infection that could put mother and baby at risk!. They suggest doing it in the second trimester!.

If it is more serious then the safest course of action is to wait until afterwards, but if you are in pain and there is a risk of infection best to deal with it now!.

Go and get a second opinion from a dental professional!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

ouch! wisdoms are very uncomfortable!. Since you are pregnant, you are limited to the products out there for pain!. You can't get the wisdom removed right now, because you are put under local anesthesia!. Hmmm!. Check out orajel!. Read the back and see if you are allowed to use it if you are pregnant!. I will at least numb the pain until you can get the tooth out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm pretty sure that it is only the first few months of pregnancy that you cannot get dental work done!. The dentist I used to work for extracted teeth from a pregnant woman only if he had a signed release from her obgyn!. You need to call your obgyn to ask what you can take for the pain for right now!. And also ask when you can be released to get the tooth extracted!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
