Is it possible to brush your teeth too much? and what does toothpaste actually d!

Question: Is it possible to brush your teeth too much!? and what does toothpaste actually do!?
Answers:
yes, !.!.my husband used to brush his teeth 3-6x daily so when he went to the dentist he told him that he was brushing so much that he was slightly wearing the enamel away, causing tooth sensitivity!. He also told him to use a tooth sensitive toothpaste, (sorry, I can't think of the name of it, but you can get it over the counter in the toothpaste isle)!. He brushes just 2-3x daily now!. His teeth are no longer sensitive!.
Seems to me brushing with toothpaste cleans away bacteria in the mouth and picks food out of the crevices to prevent cavities!. Bacteria eats away at the enamel if not removed regularly plus gives a person bad breath to boot! Happy smile!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Toothpastes contain abrasives, detergents, and foaming agents to aid in cleaning along with your brushing!. Many also contain Fluoride which is what prevents cavities!.
Brushing too hard can cause receding gums, tooth sensitivity, and, over time, loose teeth!.
Even brushing with a medium or harder toothbrush can cause sensitivity!. I know from experience!. It can be too much of a good thing I guess!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i think you can damage your gums if you brush it too much!. I try to stick to after every meal for about 2 minutes!. when i was little, i used to make a foil mouth guard and put toothpaste in it and leave it there for 20 mins!. i found out later that it didn't do that much!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes, they say you shouldn't brush your teeth for longer than 2 minutes with medium pressure!. It can cause damage to your gums!. Tooth paste has fluoride in it which helps to strengthen teeth as well as some mild cleaning agents which help to remove plaque!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
