i have been doing it since i can remember!.!.its actually healthy cos it takes out all the food debris, odor causing bacteria etc from the back of ur tongue that can cause bad breath!.as a dentist i usually advice my patients to do this!.
there are certain instruments called as tongue cleaners which are actually used to scrape the tongue!.they look like the image below:

Of course, I have an UNCLE that is a dentist! lol! And yes, you can still have bad breath if you don't brush the tongue, although, it still gags me after all these years -- lol
PS do you know you can BUY a special tongue brush!!? ONly from dentists though!. They look like a spoon! Do a much better job than a toothbrush if you are really serious about this!. And will disgust you at what you get off your tongue! By the way -- most serious diseases in the body -- including cancer -- can be caused from parasites / bacteria / fungus in the unclean mouth!. It makes me gag when I do this but I ALWAYS clean my tongue no matter what, it's a bit pointless cleaning your teeth if you don't clean your tongue!. I got a cheap Teeth and Tongue cleaner from Boots, just as good as the expensive ones!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
yeah cos the mouthwash i use leaves blue stuff on my tongue, besides the tongue is what traps all the bacteria and leaves the nasty taste in your mouth!. Havent got one of those special brushes to clean it, they tickle!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Totally yes, otherwise your mouth doesn't actually feel fresh!. But I don't bother with a new fangled toothbrush designed for this, no reason why you can't use your regular oneWww@Answer-Health@Com
