Retention with Missing Teeth?!

Question: Retention with Missing Teeth!?
How difficult is it for an orthodonist to retain a bite with missing teeth!? I would think that a traditional removable retainer couldn't sit properly in your mouth if you were missing a rear molar!. I ask this because I have been told that my teeth need to be retained for life, but I'm worried about losing one of my back molars due to gum disease!. Is there a special retainer that I could wear while I had an implant put in!? What if I wanted a bridge!? I know that the tooth may need bone grafting if it is to be saved!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
They can make you a temporary retainer while having you implant, and then the permanent after the implant is complete!. I am an orthodontic assistant and have seen cases like this many times!. Talk to your orthodontist and they can plan what is right for you!Www@Answer-Health@Com
