Tooth discoloration?!
Question: Tooth discoloration!?
One of my front tooth is a little bit discolored at the bottom of the tooth!. I went to get x-rayed last year and they said that the x-ray does not show up any signs of tooth decay or in need of a root canal YET!. The doc said I might need a future root canal!. Do you think the dentists can save the tooth before it becomes another case of a root canal!? I don't want to get a root canal since they are so expensive!. I'm so confused why nothing is showing up on the x-ray and what if that tooth is going bad right now!? What do you think!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
Answers:
Sometimes, you can bump a tooth, causing the root to begin necrotizing (die)!. There does not have to be any decay!.!.!.
Think of it like this!.!.!.!.decay starts from the outside of the tooth and moves inward!. A traumatic injury hurts the tooth on the inside, and the problem moves outward!.
If you have decay, then you can get a simple filling, which usually saves the tooth!. In the case of a traumatic injury, a root canal is usually your only option in saving your natural tooth!. The alternative is to get the tooth pulled and have either a partial denture or an implant put in!. Both of those options are expensive also, unfortunately!.
Perhaps you can start saving a little money now, and make some payment arrangements with your dentist if you do eventually need a root canal!. At that time, they will remove the pulp of the tooth, bleach out the canal (where the root--"pulp" was) and then fill it with a tooth-colored filling!.
I'm sorry you are in this predicament!. It sounds like your dentist is being conservative and not trying to talk you into anything right away--a good sign!.
Take care and keep a close check on your tooth!. Any fever, pain, swelling or a tell-tale "lump" at the tip of the root on the inside of your mouth are all signs you need to get back to your dentist right away!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
