2 year old tooth fallen out - something in socket?!

Question: 2 year old tooth fallen out - something in socket!?
Our son fell over and knocked his tooth which has since fallen out intact, with root!. Now there is a small grey object in the remaining socket which seems to be attatched to the gum!. I am confused as the whole tooth came out, so what is it!? Its not bothering him, he is eating as usual doesn't look infected - any ideas!? We took him to a paediatric dentist as soon as the accident happened and spoke to her when tooth came out, she wasn't concerned as was whole tooth, but typically it is now friday late pm when I've noticed this problem and she s not at work until Monday!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

First off, baby teeth absolutely DO have roots!. Folks generally don't see them because normally, by the time the baby tooth falls out, the erupting permanent tooth has caused the root to melt away!. However, because your son lost this tooth much earlier than he would have due to the trauma, his permanent tooth isn't developed enough to have eaten away the baby tooth's root!.

The grey "object" may just be the remaining gum tissue or the blood clot that should form in the socket of the lost tooth!. That would not be an abnormal presentation and you would NOT want to remove it if that's the case!. However, it could also be food or something else lodged in there, so it would be a good idea to have your dentist take a look at it just to be sure!. In the short term, a few days over the weekend will likely be fine and I wouldn't worry since you've said he's eating fine and isn't showing signs of infection!.

You didn't say which tooth it was, but most commonly it's one of the front teeth when lost in this way!. He would normally have lost this tooth around age 6 or 7!. He may get its permanent replacement a bit sooner now, but there's a good chance it won't come in straight, so orthodontics may be in his and your future!. Hope that helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Baby teeth don't have roots, if that is what is concerning you!. The grey spot you see is probably just nothing more than some dead gum tissue, damaged when the tooth came out ahead of schedule!. It doesn't need treatment of any sort, beyond the normal oral care you usually do!. The area will heal and his body will take care of it fine!. As long as you have no other signs of infection, and he's eating fine, I think you can relax!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

as far as i know, the only thing that can be in the socket is the next tooth!. The dentist wasnt concerned so maybe you also shouldnt be!. Give it a few days and see what happens!. In a few weeks, the next tooth will probably pop through!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

ohhhhhhhhh,don;t worry!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
