Answers:
Yes, a filling can be placed in a front tooth under the gum!. We use a composite material that is the same shade as your tooth!. Relax, your dentist won't extract the tooth unless its beyond repair!.

If you just had your ortho removed, this could be a piece of hard tartar or calculus that will be removed when you have a cleaning completed!. You won't be able to remove this with your toothbrush!. We always advise patients to schedule a cleaning as soon possible after the removal of their orthodontics to remove anything that may be lodged under the swollen tissue!.

Additional information: It's unlikely that this is decay under the tissue on a front tooth, unless you didn't take care of your teeth during your ortho treatment!. Usually the "smile" or front teeth are brushed better than the molar areas because they are seen better!. In most cases, this ends up being a decalcified area that will re-mineralize if taken care of, in other words, it's an area that started to decay but didn't go through the enamel completely!. Even if this does end up being decay, the tissue doesn't necessarily need to be removed, it can be lifted to place a restoration under the tissue!. Don't worry, I'm sure you will be fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

What you are describing is most likely a cavity!. Cavities can occur anywhere on the tooth even if it is partially covered by the gum tissue!. It is not uncommon to find cavities occuring around the brackets of someone who is undergoing orthodontic treatment!. That is why it is so important to brush and floss and use a waterpik to remove any plaque that builds up around the braces!.
Most cavities can be filled with a white composite filling!. If it is a large cavity then a root canal would be indicated!. The only way you can tell for sure if a tooth definitely needs a root canal or not is by seeing your dentist and having a xray taken and getting a pulp test!.
If a cavity is below the gum, sometimes the dentist will either use a laser or other means to remove some gum tissue to expose the cavity so that it can be properly filled!.
Don't worry too much and let your dentist properly evaluate and treat your problem!.
As always consult with your general dentist for further questions!.

Please don't worry - they won't pull out your tooth!.

I would have thought that they would have a had a good check of your teeth when you were having the braces removed!. Perhaps it isn't a cavity only a tiny blood blister caused by taking the braces off and might go away by itself in a few days!.

However if it is a cavity, they can put a filling in a tooth under the gum!.

The only person able to help you though is the dentist, so once again please don't worry!. I would put masses of money on a bet that said everything will be OK!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't worry, they can easily fill the tooth if it is under the gum!. Alot of cavities go below gum level!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
