I'm not sure how old you are and what position your wisdom tooth are in, but I trust that your dentist would have suggested removal of the wisdom tooth if it would have impeded in your orthodontic treatment!. The reason why the gums (not tooth unless it's decayed) are inflamed and have sharp pain is only because you haven't brushed your teeth very well and there is plaque/food hanging around the gums!. When the gums haven't been cleaned well for about 3 days, they will become swollen (aka inflamed) and the sharp pain is due the temporary infection of the gums!. If you use warm salty mouthwash and rinse the area well after meals and brush the area as much as you can, it will get better in 3-5 days, if it doesn't, means you have food stuck more deeper into the gums and you need to see the dentist for a clean!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
i have a wisdom tooth coming through at the moment and the area of mine was swollen and sore last week but the pus drained and it feels fine now so when your swelling goes down it should feel better although I went to my dentist and he said that it can take up to 4 years for a wisdom tooth to surface and I may get these infections and inflammations again as it grows but as I said before it will go away after a while :) remember to use salt water or a mouthwash to keep the area clean and to stop it getting infected and sore :) xWww@Answer-Health@Com
