Question: My mom said my wisdom tooth might be impacted!?
I'm 19 years old and my wisdom teeth are starting to come in on the left side only!. The bottom left one has been at the same stage of coming in for awhile, one side of it has broken thru the gum but the other side still has not came in!. It's really starting to hurt and my mom said it might be impacted!. What does this mean and what would the dentist do to solve this!?Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

It means that it may be stuck under another tooth and cannot emerge properly!. The dentist will need to extract it!. He'll put you to sleep because it is considered minor oral surgery!. You may be quite sore for a few days after!. It's important to remove it if impacted because it will screw up the alignment all your other teeth as it tries to push it's way out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
it means that it is impacted in the gums and or bone!. Your wisdom teeth are so far back that there is no need for them!. They're harder to keep clean then the rest of your teeth and are allot weaker!. More then likely your dentist will say get them extracted (removed) this is a easy procedure that is done all the time!. your dentist will take a panoramic which shows the whole jaw in one shot to see where they are in you jaw and how many you have!.Some people only have 2 or 3!.
