Did I just give myself a dry socket?!
Question: Did I just give myself a dry socket!?
I don't know if I'm being paranoid or not but it has been four and a half days since my wisdom teeth were taken out and I was just brushing my teeth and hit the back of my mouth on accident!. A bunch of blood came out and some dried blood came out as well!. Did I just give myself a dry socket!? Like will it hurt immediately!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, not likely!. By now the healing of the jawbone should be well underway, and you should be safe!. The gum you hit wasn't quite a well healed though, and you simply irritated tender tissues!. The dried blood has just been hanging out a while, as you haven't likely eaten or drunk enough to clear it out until now!. A dry socket starts out as a nagging ache in the jawline, below the extraction site- and it will progressively get worse, until none of the pain meds help kill it!. Just go easy on the chewing for now, and if you need to or want to - you can chomp on a piece of guaze or an old teabag for a bit to help with any bleeding!. If you opt for the teabag, make a cup of tea first so the tea "juices" don't gag you!. The tannic acid will help sooth the tissues, and it will feel good warm!. And get a toddler size toothbrush to use until you heal well- makes it a lot easier to avoid the sore spots!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Not necessarily!. However, you should call your dentist tomorrow and see if they want you to come in to take a look at it!. If the wound has been opened up again by accident, you may want to be more concerned about risk of it getting infected!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
