Can wearing a night guard pull off cemented crowns when it is removed each morni!
Question: Can wearing a night guard pull off cemented crowns when it is removed each morning!?
I have a bad night time teeth grinding problem when I sleep (bruxism)!. I really need to wear a night guard to protect further damage to my teeth!. I currently have crowns on some of my teeth!. Night guards fit the teeth very tightly!. I am concerned when I pull off the night guard from my teeth in the morning my cemented crowns may be pulled off with it!. Are there different types of night guards that don't fit so tightly!? I haven't been wearing a night guard because I am concerned about this happening!. It would be a hassle to have to go to the dentist all the time to have my crowns recemented if the night guard pulls them off!. How strong is that cement!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
Answers:
it doesn't seem that the crowns would come off if your dentist did it right!. i would be more worried about having the crowns damaged by grinding teeth!. maybe you should call your dentist and ask!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
You should be getting your night guard from your dentist and not just some over the counter "boil and fit" one!. This is a question to ask your dentist!. If your crowns are permanent, the night guard "should not" hurt them, but let your dentist check to be sure!. In the long run a trip to the dentist before hand might prevent future expenses!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
If the nightguard is fitted properly, then it should not pull off any crowns or other dental work!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
