Serious swollen face due to tooth/teeth issues?!
Question: Serious swollen face due to tooth/teeth issues!?
Two months ago a second tooth of mine broke (top left side)!. Crown on the back tooth is ok!. Two days ago I was eating and when I bit down I hit a nerve and had mild aches in the area mention above!. This morning I woke up to the left side of my face being swollen!. The inside of the left side of my mouth is completely sore and the swelling starts at the bottom of my face up to the left side of my nose/cheekbone!. My dentist was closed today so I called the emergency number!. Noone called me back!. So, I went to the ER where I was given clindamcin (300MG) antibiotic to take for 10 days and Tylenol 3 w/codiene for pain!. I have never had a bad tooth cause my face to swell like this - can someone tell me why or what possibly is causing this swelling!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
Answers:
the nerve might be exposed and you need to have that broken tooth extracted or root canal according to the extent of damage!.
this will make the pain go less and less till it disappears!.
take the medication and see your dentist asap!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It sounds like an infection!. You have to treat the infection first - which is what they did at the ER!. But it will come right back if you don't get the teeth fixed!. And getting an infection down into your jawbones can end up deadly!. No kidding!. It's VERY serious!. My son had that earlier this year and kept trying to treat it himself!. When he finally went to the dentist he was told he was very close to that infection either causing heart failure or possible moving to his brain!.
Get to a dentist, ASAP!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you probably have an abcessed tooth!. which is basically a big thing of pus that collected in your gum!. it can cause MASSIVE swelling in your face!. glad you went to the ER bc that is a medical emergency bc of the proximity to the infection to your brain!. continue taking ALL of the clinda!.!.!. i know its delicious mmm smells like rotten egg in IV form!.!.!. i would still follow up with the dentist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

sounds like you got an infection due to a exposed root/nerve!. I'd get that fixed asapWww@Answer-Health@Com
infection is most likely the cause!.
your body is causing the swelling to cushion the area surrounding the infection and to also allow for buildup of antibodies to help fight off the infection!. this is why the er gave you the antibiotics!.
I get an infection in my wisdom tooth about twice a year-it's horrid!. awful pain and swelling too-i can't eat anything for days!. I need to have surgery to remove it but money is tight and costs too much to surgery!.
you should feel better in about 3-4 days as long as you take the antibiotics as prescribedWww@Answer-Health@Com
