Question: Post wisdom teeth extraction!?
I'm getting my wisdom teeth removed tomorrow and I'm wondering what my mental state is going to be like!. I'm 17 and I'm getting them removed with general anesthesia at ten in the morning!.
How long is it going to take for me to be able to read a book!? Watch TV!? Do homework!?
Also, I was wondering how painful it's going to be afterwards!. For example, more painful than strep throat!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

You really shouldn't experience any mental impairment, they wake you up right after surgery!. You'll sleep a little while, and probably be feeling good enough to watch tv, read, or do homework by the end of the 1st or 2nd day!.
The pain you'll experience really varies by your threshold for pain, and your surgeon!. If the surgeon is top notch but you experience pain easily, you will still experience some!. My uncle who is an oral surgeon took my wisdom teeth out, and I never needed any pain medication!. But I swole up like a balloon!. You will begin swelling the 1st day, and it will most likely be at its worst on the 3rd day, and almost gone by the 6th!.
It's really not a bad procedure at all, they'll give you lots of pain medication and ice packs!. Don't overdo the pain medication if you need it though!. Remember, it will help to RELIEVE the pain but it doesn't ELIMINATE it!. You will still experience some pain, but the amount, I'm not sure of because I don't know you!. :)

It's not that bad!. When I had my wisdom teeth removed, the doctor gave me three prescriptions!. One for the pain, antibiotics and one for nausea!. I had to take the pain killers and antibiotics at the same time!. Which will make you sleepy!. A few hours after I had mine removed, I felt great!. But I was still drugged up!. Your going to feel crappy for a day or two!. But everyone reacts differently!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Do all you can to avoid dry socket!. I am sure they will give you info on that, like don't use a straw or smoke until it heals!. I didn't do either of those and still got dry socket!. It was the worst pain I have ever felt!. I told the nurse when I went back to get the dry socket cleaned, that it was worse than child birth!. So please be very careful with that!.
