Answers:
Animal hair such as pig hair was used to make the first brushes!. Broken and splintered wood from soft trees was also used!. Sand was used with a finger in some areas!. It just depended on where they lived and what materials were available!. I would say salt and sand were probably the first dentifrices and mint leaves, parsley, cloves and other such herbs added flavor!. Egyptians were very advanced and tried many things!. They even had crown and bridgework using gold and real, extracted teeth!.
Chewing fruits and vegetables, and whole grains helped keep teeth cleaned also!. It wasn't until the discovery of sugar and corn syrup that decay became a problem!.
The problem that most people had years ago was more related to broken and worn down teeth, not so much tooth decay!. They used their teeth to aid them when something needed to be pulled off, cut or even held down!. Teeth are very handy especially when you are hungry or just trying to survive!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

wow that answer above was quite detailed!. Anyway, a backwoods guy showed me that you can chew a piece of charcoal from last night's fire, rub it in with your fingers on the sides of your teeth, swish and spit!. Sounds terrible, but it seemed to work pretty well, teeth felt as clean or cleaner than using a toothbrush!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't know whenthey were invented but we had tooth powder before we had tooth paste!. I do know that sticks and limbs were used!. People would chew on them till the end is brush like then use that for cleaning the teeth!. People used splinters of wood to clean between teeth!. You know like a toothpickWww@Answer-Health@Com

I BELIEVE THEY USED TO USE THIN PIECES OF WOOD WHICH RESEMBLE A TOOTH PICK TO OUR TODAY SOLUTION MAYBE THE APPLES HELPED ALSO OR CHEWING TABBACCOWww@Answer-Health@Com
