To begin with, if the soreness you say you feel is only related to the "exact" area that holds the filing I would think that possibly there is still decay present and the DDS failed to completely remove all of it before placing the filing!. On the other hand if the tooth with the filing is overall tender, especially when you bite down, and the filing is on the chewing surface, most likely the filing was left to high (thick) and when you bite down the filing hits slightly before any other tooth surface does!.!.!.!.Your DDS can very easily locate any high spot with what is called a disclosing strip, meaning a slip of red or blue color coated paper placed between the teeth and when you bite down it marks the high spot!. The DDS can then reduce the high spot and get it into balance!. Good luck and I wish you well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You might want to call your dentist's office and speak to them!. Maybe the cavities were deeper than originally thought and they may need to take another look!. One would think any soreness from having cavities filled should've disappeared in a day or two at most!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If your gums are still sore then Yes, call the person/Doctor that put the fillings in your teeth!. Sometimes one filling could be to high and throw off your whole jaw line!.
Go back and see him/her!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
