Like the other two people said, if there were cavities on the other teeth, your dentist probably would just fill the cavities!. I know you said that you think you have a cavity, but that doesn't necessarily mean you do!. We have patients come in all the time thinking they need one thing, but when we examine them, they need something completely different!.

Also, it is VERY common for patients to have pain/symptoms in one area of the mouth and have the source of the pain on another tooth!. This is called referred pain!. Sometimes we even have patients complain about pain on the upper right and find out the problem is on the lower right!. Or even the opposite side of the mouth!

It is possible that your wisdom tooth is not the sole source of your pain, but to be honest, most people need to have their wisdom teeth removed anyway!. If it makes you feel better, the upper wisdom teeth are normally very easy to remove!. If they are erupted, often times we can get them out in less than 1 min once the patient is anethetized!.

But like the other person said, if you don't believe this dentist, feel free to get a second opinion!. That definitely is not a big deal!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The dentist won't put a filling in a tooth that is not decayed!. The wisdom tooth is probably pushing on a nerve on your other tooth, causing it to hurt, and that is why it needs to be pulled!. That is one of the reasons most people have their wisdom teeth removed, because the roots can become very big, and tangle with the nerves in other teeth!. Get another dentists opinion if you don't believe the first one, but honestly, a dentist can tell if a tooth is decayed and needs a filling!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I can tell you, if a tooth is causing pain, it is beyond filling!. If a tooth hurts, it is usually because of a nerve problem, periodontal problem, or infection!. A filling isn't going to fix any of that!. You would be wasting your money, time, and would end up causing yourself more pain if you request that a dentist fill your teeth!.

If you are confused about what you need done, request a copy of your xrays, and get a second opinion!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would go to another dentist for a second opinion!. Maybe they couldn't find anything wrong with the back tooth that's hurting so they want to extract the wisdom tooth to see if that helps!. I would get a second opinion and make sure!Www@Answer-Health@Com
