Abcess- pain/ root canal?!

Question: Abcess- pain/ root canal!?
Alright so i've had this killer toothache for about five days now- i've taken motrin, tylenol, and tried almost every remedy i can think of!. im in so much pain that i've actually dropped down to my knees crying several times!.!.!. i can't even sleep! what else can i do to relieve the pain!?

ive seen the dentist and he said that it infact was an abscessed tooth!. he recommended a root canal but the thing is, my insurance, which is fidelis, requires approval for such a procedure!. this approval time, apparently takes an entire month so i am left with this tooth for that much longer!. What can i do!? my parents recommend getting it pulled but then i'd be left with one less molar!.!.!. if i dont get it pulled, i'll have to withstand this pain for another month!. the doctor prescribed antibiotics and ibuprofen but it really isnt enough to get rid of the pain!.

i tried getting in contact with other doctors but 1!. its too expensive and 2!. its memorial day weekend!. [also, im a minor]

i'm so desperate!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have no idea why your insurance company would take so long to give what is officially called a "Prior Authorization"!. I know it's a holiday wekend and now you're pretty much stuck with what you've got until Tuesday!. However, have your parents call (or you can call) the Insurance company and ask them if this amount of time is accurate!. I've never heard of something taking so long!. Usually a prior authorization can be cleared up within a day or two, sometimes even the same day!. If the insurance company tells you that it's not going to take a month, then request that your insurance company call your dentist office directly and speak with them!. Sometimes you have to push both the doctors as well as the insurance companies, but it DOES get the job done!. Meanwhile, even though it's a holiday weekend, try to contact your dentist via his message service and get a prescription painkiller!. If he is unable to be reached, go to your local ER and tell them the situation!. They will be able to give you a prescription pain killer!. It won't fix the problem, but it will work better than Motrin will!. And both hospitals and pharmacies are open all weekend long, so you can certainly do at least this!. I'm sorry I can't help out more!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

how long have you been taking the prescription for!? it takes about a week for it to start working!. it should help with the pain a little!. if your dentist is a nice guy ask him if he can do the root canal and bill after the insurance has approved it!. they more then likely will its a standard procedure!.
if you chose to pull it which tooth is it!? its it the last one!? you wont really miss it and if you have wisdom teeth then it will take its placeWww@Answer-Health@Com

emergency ward-no kidding people have died from this poison getting in their bloodstream and giving a heart attack!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you are not allergic to Tylenol, try taking it along with your Motrin!. Be sure not to take more than the recommended dosages!. If your insurance does not cover the complete root canal (pulpectomy and gutta percha fill), see if they cover a pulpotomy, which may cause temporary relief of pain!. If it's too bad and you cannot wait, remember that it's only a tooth and it can be taken out!. If at all possible, it is a good idea to have the root canal therapy!. After all, you won't be getting any more permanent teeth!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Corsodyl can help, so can salt-water (sea salt!), and try painkillers such as Neurofen!.

A root canal is the best option and you need to fight to get it, else it can lead to gum infections and even bone infections!.

If it's a tooth that doesn't take too much pressure, then extraction could be an easy option, though be careful with this as it could affect your life if it's in the wrong place!. You can survive quite easily without a molar though, and if the pain is too bad, and nothing works, then definitely see about getting it pulled!Www@Answer-Health@Com
