Answers:
ok i have had braces for about three years so ill help you out
ortho only have to do with braces and appliances they would put on your teeth has nothing to do with gums also the hooks on the braces are for the rubber bands also they have diff!. colored rubber band you can pick any color you want and mix n match they also hold the wire in place on your braces!. and you might get the wire changed a couple of times to a thicker wire also no chewing gum gummy candys and that kinda stuff
the first couple days you have them your mouth will hurt so try to eat soft foods such as soup, and dont drink drinks to cold or tooo hot right away cause your mouth will be sensitive

thats it pretty much bye : ] good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

Orthodontic Braces are intended for the alignment of your teeth unless you have "other" dental issues that need attention (gingivitis, other periodontal matters!.)

The "hooks" that you are referring to (I think) are the clasps (anchors) that the orth!. will use to attach the wire (control bar) that straightens your teeth or for Rubber bands which will do the same!.
The science of orthodontics has changed many times since I last wore braces, so you might very well be able to benefit with "a higher-tech design" of braces!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you're getting braces, chill out, if you're not of course, don't worry!.
The worst part of getting braces is having the impressions done!. You'll only have to do that twice though, once for the actual brace, and one for the retainer afterwards!.
The ortho'll glue the brackets (the square things) onto each tooth, and then bend the wire around them to fit!.
And yeah, generally only concentrate your teeth, not the gums!.
The hooks are for bands that you might need later!. Elastic bands go on then, in case your jaw needs to be alignedWww@Answer-Health@Com

nothing is done to the gums!. nothing is attached to them or anything!. your teeth will just move around alot when you first get them on and then every month when they are tightened!. the hooks are for the rubber bands that you will eventually have to wear!. they are teeny tiny and you will hook the top braces to the bottom braces!. they are to help fix overbites!. you take them out when you eat, etc!. and then put new ones in!. most ppl dont like wearing them because you cant open your mouth all the way and they are uncomfortable sometimes!.
---i had braces for about 5 years!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

besides stuffing cotton balls beside them, the orthodontist won't do anything to your gums!. the hooks are where you put your rubber bands to correct your bite!. :DWww@Answer-Health@Com

1!. Nope, the orhtodontists only put concrete on your teeth!.

2!. The hooks are for rubber bands used later when you have your braces on, and are used to pull one of your jaw bones forward!. They're used for people who have an overbite/underbite!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

the orthdontist concentrates on both just to make sure you are ok!. i have braces and i asked the same question!! the brakets are to make sure that your teeth get streight, if thats what you mean by hooks!. sry if i didnt help!Www@Answer-Health@Com

the concentrate on the teeth and the hooks on the braces if you have an overbitWww@Answer-Health@Com

idk about gums, but i had mine for my teeth & my jaw
the hooks are so they can put elastics reaching from top to bottom on later onWww@Answer-Health@Com

They don't do anything to your gums, and the hooks are for rubberbands that move your teeth slowly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
