Question: Changing my siver fillings for white ones, does it hurt!?
I am having two fillings replaced for white ones on Friday!.Will it hurt!? and i am worried the teeth will crack or snap when they are drilling the old ones out!. The teeth are together at the back of my mouth!. I have just had a lot of dentistry work done,i am so pleased and these two fillings will be the last thing i have done as well as cleaned!. xWww@Answer-Health@Com

No, but they may be sensitive for some time afterward!. The new white fillings are prone to sensitivity, especially in larger fillings!. Using a sensitivity toothpaste can help!. You have to brush, spit, DO NOT rinse/eat/drink for at least 30 minutes or you will rinse all the active ingredient off!. You can also put some on your finger and rub it directly on these teeth!. Just realize that they may be cold sensitive for several months with large fillings!. Also, white fillings look good, but are not as strong or long lasting as the silver ones!. You will see lots of people who have had these silver fillings for over 20 years!. You won't see many people who have had white fillings for that long!. They are prone to breaking/leaking if people grind/clench their teeth at night, so be sure to wear a nightguard to bed to prevent this if you clench/grind your teeth!. Replacing large fillings can be risky!. It can leave the tooth with lots more fillings material than tooth which can cause the tooth to break easier!. This can cause you to need a crown, which is expensive!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had my silver fillings replaced by white ones!. They simply remove the old filling with a drill (like they would prep any tooth for a filling) and then they place the white filling in!.

My experience!. None!. I like the way they look better!. I'm not so self-conscious about having lots of metal in my mouth!.

The metal fillings are said to last much longer!.

I'm happy with my white fillings!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

no, it doesn't hurt!. i have a white filling, and no one knows that it's there cause it just looks like my tooth!. i don't think that white fillings are any less strong than silver ones, tho!.

good luck!

peace!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Why are you having this done!? Silver fillings are a lot better than white!. They last longer and are more durable, especially on molars!. I would really reconsider this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
