Answers:
I've been a student of Indonesian for over 8 years (now in my 4th year at university) and I've travelled to the country many times!. I also have a large circle of friends who come from and/or live in Indonesia!. My (clean-breath) sister-in-law is also Indonesian!.

When you ask "do Indonesian women brush their teeth", you're essentially asking someone to make a gross generalisation!. Of course there will be some women in Indonesia who may not brush their teeth, just like there may be some people in Australia, Thailand or America, etc who also who choose not to!.
Of all the Indonesian people I have come across (many of whom have lovely bright smiles), none of them seemed to give off fowl stenches from their oral cavities!.

There may be several factors as to why the lady you dated had terrible breath:
Some people are just unfortunate enough to suffer from bad breath (a condition known as Halitosis, see: http://en!.wikipedia!.org/wiki/Halitosis) - regardless of how many times they may brush their teeth in a day!.

In addition, some people mentioned that Indonesian women of the Islamic faith, particularly those fasting during Ramadan, may have bad breath because they do not clean their mouths at this time!. As stated by another yahoo member, this is not the case!. Fasting must commence from the moment the sun rises and continue until it has set in the evening!. This means that nothing is to be consumed during the daylight hours (including water for most people)!. Therefore, no-one said these people cannot brush their teeths at night/ during early morning!.
It is also worth noting that in some people, bad breath can be triggered by:

Starvation - due to mobilisation and metabolism of proteins, on exhaustion of glucose in foods!.

Strenuous exercises - ketone breath due to protein metabolism (after protein rich diet)!.

Stress - a condition known as exertional dysnoea induced by stress may also cause dry mouth and produce bad breath!.

Less intake of water - causes mouth dryness and can sometimes make breath more offensive

Overall, anyone (including those who are fasting under various circumstances, religious or otherwise) may expererience these symptoms, thus leading to bad breath in some cases!. Other factors may include water quality and availability of oral hygiene goods and services!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's not a Muslim thing!. That woman just happened to be dirty!. Are you sure she's Muslim!? Most Muslim women I know do not date and those who do, don't date non-Muslims!.

Jessie, don't try to answer a question you don't know the answer to!. You are really ignorant on the subject of fasting in Islam if you think that Muslims are not allowed to brush their teeth during Ramadan!. Nowhere, ABSOLUTELY nowhere in Islamic culture does it say that one cannot brush/clean the teeth during Ramadan!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ramadhan is a religious fasting proceess that they go through for periods of time, they do not brust there teeth in this period and are known to carry terrible breathWww@Answer-Health@Com
