Question: Retainer causing pain pain pain!!!!?
Braces off two days ago!. Cleaning yesterday!. Gums were sore yesterday and a previously broken front tooth was in too much pain to handle the retainer!. I took some tylenol this morning and tried to put on the retainer!. It fits but ouch!! The tooth was hurting seconds later!. Do you think this is simply from the pressure of the retainer moving the tooth back into place!? or is my tooth going to fall out or something!. Its been through a lot the last two days what with the braces and cleaning and polishing and poking and proding!. Im fearful for its life!. What should i do!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Uhmmm, your teeth are used to having the braces on to hold them in place!.!.!.this soon after having the braces removed your teeth want to settle against something!.!.!.since you haven't worn your retainer, they are shifting!. Put your retainer in and LEAVE it!!! Take some Tylenol or Advil and suffer through or else all of your teeth will continue to shift and you would have gone through suffering the braces for nothing!. Your teeth want to settle back the way they were, even though you've had braces on!. Bone has not completely filled in around your straitened teeth allowing them to shift back to the way they were before braces!. That's why most orthodontists recommend wearing your retainer 24 hrs for the first year!. I got my braces off two years ago and still wear my retainer every night because I'm paranoid!Www@Answer-Health@Com
You only got your braces off 2 days ago!? Your retainer should fit perfectly!. If it keeps on hurting you should call your orthodontist and tell him/her that your retainer is bothering you!. If you have the clear plastic one I find it kind of weird that it would hurt, but if you have the the kind with the wire and the plate that you can get different colors in that could probably hurt your tooth!. Your orthodontist can tighten and loosen that kind!. I would advise giving your orthodontist a call!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
i'm not sure why your retainers should hurt if u just took out yr braces 2 days ago!. its suppose to fit perfectly!.
my retainers only hurt my teeth like hell when i dont wear em for months!.!.!.and teeth have moved out of place!.
maybe your retainers are not still not fitting your teeth well!.!.!.!.i take mine back to the dentist for adjustments all the time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
