Question: Question for dentists about tooth extractions!?
My boyfriend had a root canal 8 days ago, his back L molar (they initially were going to repair, thus the root canal, but it crumbled) and wisdom tooth extracted (it was embedded sideways in the jaw bone) 4 days ago, and was treated for dry socket yesterday!. This morning he woke up in severe pain and the L side of his face was very swollen!.
Would they have treated one opening for dry socket and not the other!?
Could it be an abcess!?
Anything else that could cause this and suggested fixes!?
When i had my wisdom teeth removed it was uneventful so Im not sure what to do!. He cant get into a dentist until later today!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It may be that the dry socket is just not getting better!. Get to the nearest emergency department and as for the on-call oral surgeon!. He needs to have this properly cleaned out right away or he could become quite ill!. From then on he should keep his mouth very clean and rinse with either chlorhexidine mouthwash or warm saltwater 4 times a day until it heals!.
