Hello i to have had braces for over 4 years now!
i had the exact pains you are having, i also found that the metal sometimes hurt thr side of my mouth, dont worry about this, as after a week or so it will go, you will get used to it, but you could try having a paracetamol dont eat hard things until the pain has faded and keep in minbd what they WILL LOOK LIKE!
i am soon having mine off and my teeth are lovely now!. :)

im not sure if a pain killer would work as it is the pulling of your teeth which puts the strain on and will ache
after a couple of days it should die down
i had braces last year and know EXACTLY what you mean
try not chewing too much on hard foods like meat until they feel better as your teeth will take a while to adjust to the strain on moving them

Tylenol, or some sort of pain reliever, i feel for you! I have braces and whenever i get them tightened, it hurts so bad i almost cry! Eat ice cream, it helps!. If you're ortho!. gave you some sort of gel thingy to put on ur braces, use that too, it helps!. Hope you feel better!Www@Answer-Health@Com

When i get my braces tightened i usually take Advil and i swish around hot water in my mouth to loosen the braces a little bit and then i will eat gumWww@Answer-Health@Com
Tylenol (acetaminophen) (Motrin) ibuprofen, or (Aleve) naproxen are all good choices, assuming you are not allergic to any other them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

advil!.!.!.it shouldnt hurt for that long though!. if i can remember, when i had mine when i got them tightened it only hurt for like 30mins-an hour!. try a tylenol or advil and u should be fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
