Had root treatment but my tooth still hurts. Any ideas?!

Question: Had root treatment but my tooth still hurts!. Any ideas!?
I had my tooth root treated and filled with Ledermix on Thursday after I was experiencing really awful pain!. My dentist said the toooth was 90% dead so I would need 3 visits to complete root canal treatment!. He also said that he didn't think I needed antibiotics!. He's treated me and I was expecting the pain to go but I'm still experiencing strange throbbing and some pain!. I am concerned that maybe i'm getting an abcess or some sort of infection are there any dentists out there that could shed some light!? I have an appointment to go back in a week but should I try to get my tooth seen to sooner!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
In regards to root canal treatment (RCT), there can be and is expected to have pain before, during and after root canal treatment!.

There are 3 stages of root canal treatment, which is why you tend to need at least 3 visits to the dentists!.
1st stage: Removal of the dead nerve and debris in the canal and placement of antibiotic (ledermix) and pain killers within the tooth!.

2nd stage: Clean and shaping of the tooth, to ensure that the sides of the canals are free of bacteria and clear of previous debris!. A medicament of calcium hydroxide is placed to continue to help heal the infection in the area - it's job is it make an environment where bacteria doesn't survive!.

3rd stage: Root filling of the canal and then final filling of the tooth!.

To have had your tooth filled with ledermix, it means that you have only just undergone the 1st stage of root canal treatment!. Any sort of antibiotics (including what's placed into the tooth) need at least 24hrs before it works!. Teeth always will as though it has been traumatised when it's undergoing RCT, there's why it would still feel sore usually for a few days!.

Further note, if your tooth was relatively sore and painful when the root canal treatment was started, it will take longer for the tooth to settle!. An appointment is 1 week is fine unless the pain is keeping you awake at night!.

Take care!Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes this sounds like an infection, ok so hes fixed the tooth but if there is an infection it will still be hurting and throbbing!
get it sorted asap it will only get worse!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

take a couple of strong pain killers :-)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ledermix is corticosteroid-antibiotic intracanal paste!. (antibiotic that goes inside the tooth where the nerve used to be)!. It is normal to have some discomfort after a root canal treatment (RCT) is completed!. Occasionally the root canal treatment may need to be redone, there is a chance that some of the nerve may be in the tooth still!.!.!. but I don't think that your dentist would leave any behind!. The bad taste in your mouth may be a sign of an abscess!. You can take some Ibuprofen to help with the pain and inflammation (be sure to follow the directions on the bottle) have you noticed any swellings or pus in your mouth or near the tooth!? If the bad taste and the pain doesn't go away by Monday call your dentist!. I am sure that he would be happy to see you and take another X-ray to check if there is any abscess!. RCT's are one of the recommended treatments for abscesses!. Hope that you feel better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
