Question: I'm starting dental assisting school soon, what should I expect!?
Answers:
Every Dental Assisting school is different!. First you need to know if your school is accredited by the ADA!. Believe it or not, most aren't!. Also, depending on your state, you will either be an RDA (Registered) or a CDA (certified)!. Every state has different requirements as well as different tasks that DA's are allowed to perform!.
You will learn how to take X-rays, initially on a dummy head with teeth, then on other students with prescriptions for X-rays!. They'll explain it all!. You will also learn the basics in passing instruments, patient care and education, tooth anatomy, infection control, all the different types of dental professions (i!.e orthodontics, oral surgery, pedodontics, etc!.!.) ,dental ethics, coronal polishing, placing matrix bands and rubber dams, placing gingival retraction cord, pouring dental models and taking alginate impressions!. You will also learn all about the several dental materials you'll be using and so much more!. Basically, you learn an INSANE amount abut the dental profession!. Don't worry about not remembering everything because you can't!. Once you start working, you will learn so much more and it will become second nature!. In fact some of the things you will learn about you may never see again after school and some things you will use every day at you job you may never learn about at school!. Just expect to work very hard and study hard!. If the profession is for you, you will love it!. If not, you won't finish the program!. Good luck!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

In dental assisting school you will learn how to do x-rays and you will need three patients with a prescription from their dentist to due a full mouth which is 16 - 18 films!. Basic stuff for the board exam such as how to do temporary fillings, placing matrixs, impressions and all duties of a dental assistant for the RDA exam!. The school will provide the paper work for that!. Just before you graduate from school you will work with a dentist for how many hours is require!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
