I just got my braces off after 4 1/2 years!.!.!.you get your rubberbands after you have had your braces on!. Rubberbands are one of the final steps in braces and they are used to correct an overbite or an underbite!. What your friend probably had were spacers, which look like really tiny rubberbands that go between your molars in order to make space for some of the metal bands that will go around your back teeth!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Rubber bands can't be attached to your teeth! You can only attach them on your braces!. That's why braces always come first before them!. Rubber bands don't really hurt when you keep your mouth still!. They only hurt when you open your mouth wide or when you eat!. So don't fret! Remember that braces come before bands!. I hope I helped you! :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

well, how would you attach the rubber bands if you didn't have brackets!?!?

You'd have to have braces or else there wouldn't be any hooks to hold the rubber bands!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

"rubber bands" are known to me as elastics, and they are put around a tooth for about 2 weeks to create room around the tooth for braces!. they dont hurt at all mind you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

there called spacers in other words they go inbetween your teeth, spread them out and you will get braces or a brace plateWww@Answer-Health@Com
