Dentist doing wrong?!

Question: Dentist doing wrong!?
ok, here's my predicament!. First let me tell you that I have no insurance so everyone requires up front payment!. After moving to this new town, I've been to two different dentist!. The 2nd that I went to and stuck with began to do lots of work!. For one, I had the deep cleaning done on my whole mouth!. For that I paid the total ($820)of it up front to get a $60 discount for prepaying!. After the deep cleaning, they did an assessment of what else needed to be done as far as filling teeth!. So again I paid upfront ($1794)though didn't receive a discount!. While he was working on my teeth, one broke in half while he was drilling!. Honestly I'm unsure of whether the tooth was really that decayed or whether that was a mess up on his part with the drill!. So after he's done he tells me, then tells me that I'll have to go to another dentist for a root canal since it's a molar!. There's another $980!. I cried as it's the first time I've ever had a broken tooth!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

So what's your predicament!? The situation sucks, but if the work needs to be done, then it just needs to be done and you've gotta pay!. It sounds like you've got a lot of problems with your teeth (1794 must have been for lots of fillings!), so my thoughts are that the dentist probably didn't do anything wrong with the drill!. Weak/rotten teeth break easily!. If you're uncomfortable though, ask for recommendations for other dentists from your friends or from the one who does the root canal!. Good luck to you!.

EDIT: Geez, I don't know what to say!.!.!.for him to offer something like that kind of implies that he knows he made a mistake, but I don't know!. But if he denies offering that now, and nobody else will back you up, unfortunately you're screwed since you didn't get it in writing!. However, you could just refuse to pay and report him to the Better Business Bureau or another agency that fights for patients' rights (maybe take it to a lawyer!?)!. This whole thing sounds kinda screwy, Amy, and if it were me personally I wouldn't allow him to work on my teeth anymore!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

YOU SHOULDA BRUsHED MORE OFTEN WHEN YOU WERE YOUNG!. or get some insuranceWww@Answer-Health@Com

I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that the dentist is doing anything wrong!. There are times that a tooth ends up needing a root canal after the treatment is started!. It is unfortunate that you do not have insurance!. I would question the need for up front payments!. If you are truly uncomfortable with the dentist's work you should seek yet another opinion!. This is not really the best format to truly answer your question fully!. A professional opinion would be best!. I would suggest trying to get a copy of the x-rays taken up to the last treatment, that could help another doctor really see the full picture!. Good Luck <><Www@Answer-Health@Com

The root canal is to done by a dentist that specializes in them!.

Bit, the prices he charging are interesting!. Look up the dental board in the area and ask for help!. And the tooth he broke!? He should have to pay for it!. As he is the one that broke it!. If he refuses, see an attorney!.

Next time, look up a dental laboratory in the yellow pages!. Give them a call and ask them for a referral!. They know which of their clients are good and honest!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

there are skeevy dentists---I went to the dentist my husband LOVES and has cost us a TON out of pocket even though we have dental insurance--anyway, when I went to this dentist, he said that I had EXACTLY the same problems my husband had----HMMMM, that sounds weird to me!?!!?!!? Please be circumspect about the work that any dentist tells you you NEED!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

you should always try more than 5 dentists!.!.!.!.!.try big ones or get referrals from an orthodontist as they no who is good and who is not :) you should go to court if this dentist gives you any more trouble!.!.!.!.as for the tooth he broke get a balance and leave otherwise you mite have more than a broken tooth next time you leave there!. but make sure you get it fixed as this problem could escalte to more costing you almost 4x the price you paid for this very scamy dentist :) good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com
