Can a broken retainer cause teeth to shift?!

Question: Can a broken retainer cause teeth to shift!?
Hello, I recently (about a month ago) had my braces removed!. My ortho!. gave me an invisiline retainer to wear for a year, and, at first, it seemed to work fine!. All of the sudden, I started getting a few little cracks in them, some of which widened futher!. My ortho is getting me a new retainer, but I was wondering if wearing this broken one could have caused my teeth to move!?

You see, I developed a gap between my two front teeth while wearing braces, a major obstacle throughout my experience with them!. Over the past week (maybe a little less) I have noticed a small space (really small, but enough to be noticed) between my two front teeth!. So, could this have happened because of the broken retainer (I almost always wear it, btw), or is there another cause!? More importantly, will my teeth move back once I pick up and wear my new retainer tommorow!? Thanks a lot for your help!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
broken retainer can cause teeth to move, if you notice a change in just a week imagine what it could do in a month or a year, better check with your orthodontist soon, better a minor adjustment or replacement of your retainer than braces againWww@Answer-Health@Com

Your teeth will shift, especially since you had your braces off so recently!. That said, don't worry, they won't shift too much and I bet you won't even notice!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
