Sugar free gum and braces?!

Question: Sugar free gum and braces!?
I have had braces for about a year and a half and I've been chewing gum with them on!. I only chew sugar free gum!. Very rarely will I have a piece of gum with sugar in it!. So my question is, is it safe!? My orthodontist has never said I'm having any problems!. He says that I'm doing great and won't have to wear my braces much longer!. So everything is fine right!? I've never broken anything!. So is there anything I should be worried about!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
It's perfectly fine!. I had braces and chewed sugar free gum the entire time!. It never hindered my treatment!. Sugar free gum is reccommended to elderly people with dentures because it does not stick, pull or damage!. It is the same for braces!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had braces for 3 years and always chewed gum, sugar or no sugar!. It doesn't matter if there is sugar in the gum it is the constant chewing and wearing down of the metal that causes the breaks!. I chewed gum all the time and never broke anything either!. There is always a slight chance of something breaking but I wouldn't be to worried about it!Www@Answer-Health@Com

chewing gum does loosen up the brackets on your braces a little, but carmel is the worse, popcorn isnt badWww@Answer-Health@Com
