Question: What exactly is "getting your gum fibers cut" after you've had braces!?
And does it hurt!. I have to get this done today and im really nervous about it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is called a fibertomy or fibrotomy!. The dentist uses a small instrument to slide under the gum line and cut some of the little fibres which attach the tooth to the bone!. Usually it's done when your teeth have been moved a lot with braces, because that stretches the fibres, and some dentists consider that the stretched fibres are more likely to pull teeth out of line again!. Once cut, the fibres reattach in a few days, but in less stretched positions!.

I have not had it done, but apparently it's not painful!. There will be a bit of bleeding and your gums might feel tender afterwards for a few days!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
