Fillings at the Dentist will cause swelling?!

Question: Fillings at the Dentist will cause swelling!?
You'll have to forgive me for asking, but it's been about 10+ years since I was at the dentist for a filling, and I barely remember how it's done!. I'm scheduled to have three done tomorrow, all in the same area of my mouth (upper left), all three done on three different teeth in a row!.

1) I'm extremely nervous about getting the freezing done!. The needle ALWAYS hurt when I was a kid and I have a distinct memory of feeling where the needle went into my jaw and feeling it for up to a week after!. Is there an alternative that I can ask my doctor for instead of getting that dreaded needle!?

2) I'm worried that with getting freezing put in (three needles in the same spot) that my cheek will swell up!. I'm going to be in wedding photos on June 15th!.!.!. is there any chance that my cheek will swell up or if it does swell up, will it at least go down by the 15th!?

Thanks for your help!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I totally feel your pain!.!.!.have had some dental dramas of my own lately including a root canal!.

I think the needle is unavoidable for what you're having but how well its done depends on the dentist!. For the root canal, the dentist was awesome and I never felt it, but when I went back for the crown another dentist did it and it was a little less awesome!. Just mention your fears when you get there and maybe they can use a little extra freezing on you!.

The swelling will go down in a day or so!. I took about three in the same spot and by the next day the area was still sore, but I had no swelling left!. Take tylennol (not advil) before you go and as soon as you come back!. If you stay ahead of the pain you'll get through it much better!.

Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have never experiance my face swelling in any area that I had a dental needle!. Any slight swelling or sensativity was certainly gone after about a day!. Of course it totally felt like I had a chipmonk face and I was drueling like mad because it was all numb though!.

I remember getting needles about ten years ago aswell and they hurt so much more than the needles I had recently!. The dentist should be putting a numbing gel on the area of your gums that will get the needle this will take the edge off of it for you at any rate!. You could get laughing gas I suppose, but I would go for the needle anyday!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
