Question: Flossing with braces! Please help!!?
Ok, so I got yesterday and I'm brushing every time I eat something, and it doesn't really hurt!. It just feels very tight and it's not all that annoying!.
But flossing!.!.!.is horrible!. It took me like 30 minutes to floss with the loopy thingie!.
What's the easiest way to floss with braces (I got ceramic ones)!?
No waterpik, I can't afford it!.
No loopy thingies!. I cant stand them!.
I used the little pipe cleaner thing to floss!. It worked!.!.!.but it was a bit tight and couldn't go in all the way in some teeth!.
Something affordable!. And no, I don't want to get used to it so don't tell me I will!.
I'm taking them off in a year, so it wont be THAT bad!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try super floss!. Yes, it sounds fake, but it is a real product!. It has a gauze part (that won't fit in between your teeth but it slips through the wire) and then they have a regular floss part!. Even so, flossing will take you a very long time!. My advice is don't floss in the back, just brush really well there!. I asked my orthodonist about that and he said it's okay!.
In case you didn't know, that little pipe cleaner thing comes in more than one size, orthodonists always give you the larger size but there are smaller ones that work much better!. You can also buy those little metal picks that dentists use, they work quite well with braces!. If you are experiencing trouble flossing in some areas, those can and should be used instead!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A couple of things you might try are proxy brushes or those little plastic toothpicks with the brushes at one end and a point at the other!. Both are relatively inexpensive and meant for hard-to-reach areas!. You can find them in just about any dental care areas at pharmacies or grocery stores!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I just use regular floss and string it under the wire!. It's a little hard at first, but now I take about 5 minuites to floss or sometimes less!. Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Oh girl, I feel your pain! I am 26 and I voluntarily got braces last year because I wanted my straight teeth to be perfectly straight! I hated them! I switched to clear about four months after I got them, which was the only thing that made it bearable!. That was one of the longest years of my life!. So, I hated the loopy things too, and honestly the quickest thing for me was just getting a string of floss and poking the end up from underneath my wire on the bottom teeth and down through the top on my top teeth!. Then I would floss that spot, pull it out and do the same thing under the next section of wire!. I would flatten the end of the floss a little to make it straight then poke it through!. I never saw the need for the loop!. I also did two other things to keep my teeth clean!. I bought the dentist looking tool set from Wal-Mart!. It was less thatn $5!. It included the mirror on the stick, the metal pick, and the other metal scraper thing!. I used these to clean around my brackets and make sure every single thing was removed!. Then I got the mini brush pick and I dipped it in hyrdogen peroxide and literally brushed my teeth, especially around my brackets!. Too me it has no taste, but some people don't like it!. When I got my braces off my teeth were really white, everyone thought I had gotten them whitened right away!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
