What is the "tooth jaw articulation"? (a&p)?!

Question: What is the "tooth jaw articulation"!? (a&p)!?
Answers:
I hope I'm understanding your question right, but it's basically about the relationship between the upper & lower jaws & how the teeth come together!.

Try going here: www!.acadental!.com to see a dental "typodont"!. This is basically a model of how teeth in proper occlusion should fit together!. The key to proper occlusion starts with how the 1st molars fit together (aka 6th year molars - going towards the back from the front - the 6th tooth back)!. Since the upper teeth are larger than their lower counterparts, the upper arch is also a bit longer/wider so in that pix, you'll see that the front cusp (point) is set about halfway back on the lower 1st molar!.

Another thing in this is how the teeth mesh together, so to speak!. In that pix, see how the cusps of the teeth fit kind of like cogs or gears!? This is really important too!. (the $50 word for that is "interdigitation")!.

I hope this rambling made some sense!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
