Root canal myths?!

Question: Root canal myths!?
I've heard very bad things about root canals!. I would like to know if anyone here has had a root canal and experience bad side effects afterwards!. But I don't mean just pain a couple days after because that maybe normal!. I mean pain that was so bad that the tooth had to be removed or something like that!. Please comment from personal experience!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have seen many root canals and the patients in our office do not feel them at all!. I would recomment that you have your dentist refer you to an endodontist because that is what that do all day long and what they are specialized in!. I have seen them done in 30-45 mins!. In a root canal, they will deaden the area!. Then they will use a drill to open the tooth!. They will empty out the tooth with a file that looks like an upside down christmas tree!. They will then take an x-ray to make sure that they have gone all the way down to the bottom of the root, take measurments, etc!. If they have cleaned out the tooth and nothing remains, they will condition the tooth and then melt what is called gutta percha which is a pink rubber material that will forever fill the tooth!. They will then apply a temp!. crown ( which will fall off if you chew gum or anything sticky) You will have to have impressions made of your new root canaled, and crown prepped tooth!. Try to make them do this all on the same day!. You will then get a permanent crown about two weeks later!. When you get a root canal, it acutally kills the tooth, the remaining shell of tooth is dead, filled with the rubber!. It will eventually fall out, because root canals are not guanteed for life!. You may consider getting the tooth extracted and getting a permenant bridge!. If you feel any pain during your proceedure, make the dentist stop and apply more antistethic and give it time to work!. Hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have unfortunately had one!. It was not pleasant!. Basically they numb the area!. Take a mold of your existing tooth to make a crown for the soon to be ground down tooth!. Then drill holes into the tooth to access the root!. The root is then removed!. The surface of the tooth is ground down so that the crown can be thick enough to hold together during future chewing!. A temporary crown is glued on and the permanent one is sent out to be made!. A few weeks later it is ready and they remove the temp and fit the permanent crown!. If it fits (after some adjustments), it is epoxied on for the rest of your life!. It isn't a lot of fun, but afterwards it feels like a normal tooth and the problem is gone!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

As you say there may be some discomfort for a few days afterwards, but there shouldnt be any pain after that!. One of the reasons your getting root canal treatment maybe that there is infection at the base of your tooth (at the apex); if this infection has not cleared then you may get pain!. But normally the root canal won't be done when there is infection there, so dont worry, you will be fineWww@Answer-Health@Com

I have had six root canals all which have been successful!. You are in the normal pain as most other dental procedures!. Though it does take a lot longer than most processes and can be tiring!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!. I would dare to say if you have a good dentist you can proceed with confidence!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
