Question: How many shots does the dentist give your child before taking care of a cavity!?
The dentist gave my 6 year old 3 shots, one right after the other, before beginning the procedure!. It was horrible!. Is that normal!? Wouldn't just one shot have been sufficient!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Some times the first shot just numbs up the area to go deeper!. I would rather be extra numb then have them feel the drill!. They will never want to go back if they felt the actual work!. The dentist knows best!. I have had lots done and believe me the shot is nothing compared to the drill hitting a nerve!. Your child will be glad he doesn't get a tooth ache!. It depends on the type of anesthetic being used, the individual child, the depth of the decay, and the individual tooth being worked on!. There is no set amount used!. Most dentists would rather give a little more than needed, than to have a child feel pain while they are drilling, jerk away, and then risk the drill drilling into their check!. That would be way worse than your child getting three shots!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I work at a dental office and there are many ways to answer this question!. Probably the dentist was giving local injections in the tissue around the tooth which might ease the pain of a deeper "shot"!. Or it could be that the filling may have been deep therefore your doctor gave injections in different areas!.
The main thing is that it should have been relatively painless!. After 3 shots they might be hurt and scared!. Good oral health starts from childhood!.!.!. if your child is scared of the dentist now it will be hard for them to recover as an adult!.
Avoiding the dentist leads to more health problems than cavities!. We are finding out now that the mouth is a road map to the health of our bodies!. Cancer, Diabetes and Heart Disease can be found or prevented by visiting your dentist!.

Well u don't have to get shots it's just to take the pain away!. I have never got a shot from the dentist in my life!. Even when i was younger than that!. But ive watched people like in there 50's and the dentist only gave them 1 shot!. It also depends on how much is in each shot it could be a little in each one and alot in just one so!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
