I used to have a tongue ring and when i just got it i talked to my dentist!.
He said it's fine if you wear plastic little balls on it!. Because it will tick your teeth when you eat for example, or even in your sleep!.
But the most important thing he told me, is that the actual stud (which is most likely to be surgical steel) can do damage!. The metal can react with you saliva and in the long run damage your enamel, and enamel doesn't recover!.

So just wear all plastic pretty much!. Plus, if the tongue ring is pierced well, it shouldn't tick your teeth while talking for example!! Good luck with it and enjoy the tongue ring!

I always did, but sadly had to take it out because of my career! :(

ps!. you don't have to wash your mouth before every meal or after!. that is just the first 2 weeks untill the hole is healed!. and the first week or so, you won't be able to eat solids!. what i did was eat soup and soak bread in it!. hey i lived, so don't worry about that! :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Tongue piercing is a personal preference that I would not choose for myself, but I know many people do!. I personally have no problem with people expressing themselves with piercings (I have a nose piercing), but as a certified dental assistant, I know what the dangers are of tongue piercings!.

The possibility of infection is great! Since there are literally billions and billions of germs in your mouth, placing an extra hole in your mouth just leaves that hole vulnerable to infection, until it heals!. And believe me, there are PLENTY of people that get infections!.

Tongue piercings are very painful until they heal!.

Tongue piercings can eventually destroy your front teeth from the tongue bar continuously hitting or rubbing up against your front teeth!. The bars eventually wear away the enamel on your teeth, creating additional problems associated with your teeth, including massive pain!. Once the enamel is gone, the dentinal tubules (microscopic "holes" in the teeth) are exposed, which creates massive pain, on the same order of a massive toothache when a cavity is there!. This in turn, will create the need for further dental care, which could include anything from crowns (caps) to partial dentures to implants!.

The only pro I can think of, besides them looking nice, is that the mouth is one of the fastest healing parts of the body!. So, a tongue piercing will heal faster than say, a nose piercing, but that is only if the area does not get infected!. If I were you, I would not get it, but like I said before, it is strictly your personal preference!. I hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It will click your teeth no matter what!. When you eat, sleep, etc!.!.!.
Then It will rub against your gums and can even create problems with sensitivity!.
You tongue is more prone to infections and cuts, and THAT is not fun!. Especially if you kiss someone and mix germs!.
There really is no point in piercing yout tongue!. I promise you will take it out anyway!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'd be more worried about infection because the mouth has the most germs!. You have to wash your mouth out before and after every meal!. I'm pretty sure you have to be on a liquid diet for the first week or so!. I dunno about you but it wouldn't be worth it for me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well is plastic barbells you can use instead , they might prevent this from happeningWww@Answer-Health@Com
