I am not sure where you go to school, but if they have a dental school at your university or in your community that would certainly be the best place to get inexpensive dental work!. Often times, you will also receive some type of a discount for being a student (especially if the dental school is in the same university system as the one you attend)!. Dental work at a dental school or dental hygeine school is usually stellar in the sense that there is a great deal of oversite from experienced dental professionals!. If there isn't a dental/dental hygeine school in your area, you should explore the possibility of a community based dental clinic - the fees will be much lower than a private dentist and you would likely qualify for a sliding scale fee!.
