Ok, my dentist made me do x-rays only to tell me that he does not know if I have a deep cavity or need a root canal!. He told me he will have to dig to find out!. I know I can afford a cavity but what if a root canal is needed and I cannot afford it , what will happen, can he still do a filling and can I do root canal later on!? It is a shame I have blue cross blue shield pay 300 dollars a month and no root canals are covered, thhey only pay 5 dollars for cavities!. I hope the new president wil take care of health care better, even poor countries have better health care than the states!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You will have a couple of options should he begin the filling and realize that the decay is too deep!. First, he will not be able to proceed with the filling (this will just result in long term pain and sensitivity for you!) Should this be the case, a root canal is the ideal treatment for you!. If you do not have the money immediately, the dentist can perform what is called a pulpotomy (palliative treatment) that is essentially like performing the first step of a root canal!. This will alleviate the pain temporarily (about 2 to 6 weeks) but you will eventually need to have the root canal completed and a crown placed on the tooth!. If you don't feel that you can afford a root canal now (or in the future) you can always opt for an extraction - which is much more affordable!. Depending on the tooth that is in question (you always want to hold on to your molars if at all possible) an extraction might be a good solution!. Ultimately, a root canal or extraction will be your only treatment options should the cavity be too deep!. The health care system certainly needs some reform! Watch out !! If you have an extraction, eventually you will have bone loss!. No doubt about it!. Implants are Major Expensive !!! I could kick myself for all the Root Cannel's and Gold crowns that have gone on to crack and split , failed bridged!.!. my dentist actually told me it was my fault after twice coming back because it didn'tr stay put!.!. when I did not return for a third time!. He said well that was a year ago why didn't you come in!.!. I said I did come in!.!. then again!.!.!. whats the point of 1300!.00 for a bridge that does not work!. He said he would make me another one at cost!. I said yeah ok as soon as I have another 1300!.00 I'll let you know, then I had the nerve to ask for a treatment plan!.
