Oral Surgery....HELP ME!!?!
Question: Oral Surgery!.!.!.!.HELP ME!!!?
See, I wear braces and I was supposed to undergo an oral surgery quite a while ago, but it's been put off by my dad because of insurance!. But I'm pretty sure that the next time I see the orthodontist, I'm going to HAVE TO go!. But i am really nervous!! My orthodontist says they're going to cut a piece of my gums and attach a chain!.!.!.!.!.!.!.
Has anyone else experienced this, and can you please tell me what the experience was like!?!?
and also, are you generally allowed to bring an iPod or MP3 player to the surgeryor not!? I've had four teeth removed before and the needles hurt a little bit, but not much at all!. It is just really uncomfortable, but not painful!. So I just need a way to really take my mind off the procedure with music!. Is that allowed!?

As the other answer says it won't be much different than the extractions!. Depending on the surgeon, they may just numb the gums or use sedation so you are relaxed!. Then the surgeon will attach a bracket & small chain to the tooth thru a tissue window ( a small incision) in the gum!. The orthodontist will then guide the tooth into place just like moving the teeth w/ braces!. After a while you will forget it's even there!. The gum will heal around the chain & the tooth will erupt just like any other permanent tooth, only the ortho will lead it in the direction it needs to go!. Good LuckWww@Answer-Health@Com
The pain during the procedure would be about the same as the extractions you had!. That should mean that all you feel is the injections and the rest just feels like pressure!. Some Oral Surgeons might have issues with the iPod if they are worried about a sterile work environment!. Some, might not have an issue with it!. I would just call the office and ask them in advance!.
Keep in mind, this surgery is done to aid in the effect of your braces!. If you want your teeth to look their best, this surgery will help!. If you are fine with the way they look now, then don't do it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
