Fixed bottom retainer cutting my tongue.?!

Question: Fixed bottom retainer cutting my tongue!.!?
I just got my bottom braces off and I have a fixed bottom retainer now (with the wire behind the teeth now instead of in the front), and it's starting to cut my tongue alot!. Before evrything I did i pretty much had my tongue against the back of my bottom teeth, like when I whistled, spit, swallowed, sometimes when I talked, and when I'm not doing anything my tongue is always against the back of my teeth!.

So now my tongue is getting cut more and more, anyone know what I can do!? Or how I can do stuff without pressing my tongue against the wire, like how you guys do it!.

ThanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

Depending on how long you've had it, you just need time to adjust to it!. If you feel any sharp areas on it your regular dentist can smooth it to make it more comfortable, if you can't get in to see the ortho for a while!. Hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Until you can get into the dentist or orthodontist office, stick some orthodontic wax on the area that is sharp!. If its just killing you, you can take a normal nail file and file down the area!. Just make sure not to file down your teeth!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Retainer should be replaced with correct fit!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
