Help i have a tongue thrusting habit?!?!

Question: Help i have a tongue thrusting habit!?!!?
so i got braces about a month ago and the reason being is because I have an overbite!. My overbite was caused because of a tongue thrusting probelm that I forgot to tell my ortho about!.!. im going for my braces tightening in about 2 weeks and i was wondering if this is something i should mention to my ortho or will the braces fix it!?

another thing, is that i noticed that there is a gap inbetween my two front teeth!.!. note that i have an extracted tooth 2 teeth away from my two front teeth, so could that be my teeth shifting!?

IM REALLY freaked out about all this is there something wrong!?!? should I be concerend!?!?

and what would my ortho say about the tounge thrusting problem!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
definitely tell your ortho about the tongue-thrusting!. even if braces fix it now, if you dont fix the thrusting problem, your teeth will eventually all go back!. there are things they can do!. 2 of my sisters had the same problem -- they were given retainers with a "grate" which basically prevented the tongue from going too far forward!. this trained them to swallow properly and now their teeth are great!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Emily is correct!. Your ortho already knows you have a tongue thrust habit!. He can tell because that's what causes your teeth to be the way they are!. Plus he can tell by the way you speak and swallow!. He's trained for all of this!. He will correct it but it wouldn't hurt to discuss everything with him that is bothering you!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had the same thing and I got braces!. Braces will correct for the tounge thrusting thing!. Yes -tell the ortho!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
