Question: Do you think this is ridiculous!?
I have a really bad habit right now!. Please please I do not need insults but I just want you to tell me if you think this is really ridiculous!. I bite down on my bottom cavity filling which is pretty big and it has broke before and after I got it redone I keep biting down on it to see if the top portion of my tooth touching the bottom part (the filling) would break it or not!. I can't stop thinking about it! It's depressing me!

Blooming is right! You should not be able to do that!. If you can, the filling needs to be adjusted!. When the DDS places a filling, it should be contoured just like the tooth surface that it is replacing!. If it is sticking up high enough that you can tell, can "bite down on" it, something is wrong with it in the first place!.
To answer your questions, it is ridiculous that your filling is that noticable!. It is nearly impossible for you to IGNORE a filling that you can feel in that way!. Yes, biting down on a filling that is too high like that can break it!. It can also irritate the nerve in the tooth and cause you to need a root canal or it can break the tooth around the filling!. Get back to your DDS and have him/her adjust the filling!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't think it's ridiculous!. I don't even think that you should be able to do that!. I have some fillings and can't even notice them when I bite down!.
If it's recent, it might just need some time to wear down!. If it's been like that a while, see if the dentist can file it down a little or something!.
