it all depends!.!.!.your oral surgeon should have given you a piece of paper with some do's and don'ts, but follow my recommendations from someone who has been there!.!.!.I had my 4 wisdom teeth out last summer, I was allowed to take the gauze out an hour after surgery, because that gives adequate time for the wounds to stop bleeding!. for the first week, I couldn't eat ANY solid foods!. I ate mostly mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, Jell-O, pudding, soup, etc!. If you just got them out today, you might be feeling up to going to the movies on Friday, but don't rush yourself into doing anything! I know I felt okay after a few days, I just couldn't eat solids!. Whatever you do, make sure you keep your mouth really clean by rinsing with salt water twice a day, don't smoke, don't eat sharp foods like chips, and don't suck from a straw because it could open the wounds back up!. I know it hurts like hell, but just stay up on your pain meds, and apply ice and heat when you feel like you need it!. good luck =)Www@Answer-Health@Com
I'm surprised you were even awake!. You must not have been under general anesthesia!. General does funny things to people!. I seriously thought I was Borat for a few minutes, and I was laughing and crying!. Then I slept for four hours, and woke up in real pain!.

You will have a hard time eating anything for about a week!. Stick to soft foods or liquids!. And whatever you do, dont suck on straws or anything like that!. That wil cause dry socket and you will be miserable!. It will stink and take forever to heal!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i was told to drink ensure and a liquid diet until my gums had started to heal!. i think the pain meds did more to curb my appitite that they help the mouth pain!. good luck!. sorry that it sucks!. oh!.!. and i almost forgot! the gauze should stay there for at least a few hours until the bleeding stops, but you want to leave the wounds alone as not to remove the clot/scab(like)
